These bushing were developed to solve an issue inherent to the Prelude-SH.  The arm is normally supported by a very stiff bushing on one end, and a ball joint on the other.  The center of gravity of the arm is well below the centerline between the bushing and the ball joint and carries significant mass.  Replacing the bushing with a ball joint means the arm is free to swing around, eventually camming itself from it's housing accelerating failure and creating NVH noises.  At BIBs we've developed thick polyurethane boots to actually act as a torsional bushing to keep the arm oriented, while the spherical bearing is able freely articlate the suspension without adding bushing rate to the wheel end.  The boots also keep the crud out!
